Jacques Whitford's Building Science and Engineering specialists have a strong background in, and understanding of, the operational principles and the interrelationship of the many systems and components that are required to optimize building performance. We provide solutions for both new construction and for renewal of exiting facilities that achieve improved comfort and reduced operating costs by integrating our expertise in the areas of roofing, cladding and building envelope, windows, building control systems, HVAC and electrical systems.
Building Science:
We have specialist capabilities to provide computer-based dynamic hydrothermal modeling of environmental separations (walls and roofs) and numeric material assessment for dimensional change, thermal conduction and moisture absorption. The knowledge gained using these modeling and analysis techniques enables us to develop optimal restoration, improvement or upgrade strategies for cladding and roofing systems.
By linking the complementary expertise of our Indoor Environments Service Group in the specialized area of mold sampling, identification and abatement, we are able to provide full solutions for mold remediation and prevention.
Cladding Engineering:
Our cladding engineering group has specialized expertise in the areas of heavy cladding (precast concrete, stone and masonry), lightweight cladding (metal cladding, EIFS, stucco and thin granite) and fenestrations (windows, window walls, curtain walls and sloped glazing).
With this expertise at the forefront, and the application of our building science knowledge, we undertake on-site investigations and assessments to evaluate cladding performance and renewal options that will restore, improve, or upgrade performance while trying to maintain as much as the original fabric as possible.
Roof Consulting:
Jacques Whitford has been involved in the roofing industry for over 30 years. Our expertise is focused in the areas of assessment and evaluation of both flat (low slope roofing, inverted roofing membrane assemblies, conventional assemblies) and slopped (asphalt, slate, metal) roofing system performance; evaluation and implementation of roofing maintenance systems; and design and administration of upgrade and replacement of existing roofs.
