On June 1, 2007, Jacques Whitford became the first, major environmental consulting firm to become Carbon Neutral. 

Calculate and Offset

In order to achieve a carbon neutrality status, Jacques Whitford calculates its carbon footprint annually and purchases real and verifiable carbon offset credits equivalent to our total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Our total annual carbon footprint from all of our operations in the United States and Canada was 8,728 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent GHG emissions in 2007.   

Reduce

Essential to our carbon neutral commitment is our GHG emissions reduction strategy.  We understand that the majority of our GHG emissions come from our vehicles and our buildings.  Knowing this, we have developed and implemented a strategy to make quantifiable reductions to our carbon footprint through energy conservation, technology change, and awareness solutions. 

Founding Member of The Climate Registry

Jacques Whitford is a founding member of The Climate Registry. The Climate Registry is being developed for voluntary and mandatory reporters as a public, GHG reporting registry and measurement protocol.  Every reporter to the Registry must calculate their GHG emissions from operations in North America; report their emissions to the Registry, making their emissions public; and have their report verified by an independent third party.
